When a dancer falls in love…Love and Joy in Rochester, New York

Krista and Josh were a joy from the moment we met. They were both filled with a love and light that just emanated from them. As with so many of my grooms, Josh said he wasn’t really into photos, but he planned their engagement session with vintage bikes, and outfits to match. We had an absolute blast that day!

Fast forward a year later to their wedding – wow! My couples often ask if I have a favorite venue to photograph weddings. My answer is this: I have places I love photographing in, but if you give me two people, fully in love, who look at their wedding day as a celebration of their love, a day to be in the moment completely and I’m happy photographing anywhere. Josh and Krista did exactly that. These two are so in love it seeps from their pores. They trusted me to create their timeline, which made their day as relaxed as it could possibly be for such a large event. And it shows in every moment.

Krista started her day surrounded by women who adore her. They kept her smiling and happy. They all looked gorgeous the entire time.

I love when dad gets emotional when he sees his daughter all dressed up for the first time on her wedding day! This time both Krista and her dad were so excited for this moment. Follow that up with a ride in a Rolls Royce to the church? This made for one happy (and gorgeous) bride!

The wedding was held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, located in Rochester, New York. This is the tiniest huge church I’ve ever been in! It looks huge, but when you enter the cathedral it’s a much smaller space than you would expect, but just as grand as any church I’ve ever been in.

We spent the next bit of time getting some beautiful portraits of the wedding party, the bride and the groom at Colgate Divinity. I love taking wedding parties there. It looks like you’re in the Adirondacks, much loved by myself and Krista and Josh. Krista is a dancer. She was so elegant in her gown, playing with her veil!

We then went to the reception being held at the Irondequoit Country Club. I love shooting there. It’s a beautiful venue, and the grounds are amazing! Krista and Josh knew exactly how they wanted their day to feel, creamy tones, pearls, and the vase holders? Josh made those himself. Aren’t they stunning?

We took some time to go outside for the sunset. I love this time of day. It gives my clients a breather, a bit of time to reflect on their day alone.

And of course, we used that awesome Rolls Royce again!
